Step 1

Step 2

Submit your Application to the Texas Real Estate Commission

Once you have completed all of your courses, you will now need to submit your salesperson application on the Texas Real Estate Commission’s website at At the top of the page click on “My License” and follow the directions on the page to set up your user ID and password to create an account. Once an account is created you may apply for a new license. The application fee for a Real Estate Salesperson license is $153.

Sign-up for the online Real Estate Prep Exam course @

While your application is being processed you should start taking the unlimited exams offered by along with the professionally written study guides offered with your membership. This course will ensure you are ready for your State Exam and relieve the stress and fears of passing the exam on your first attempt.

Step 4

Take the State Exam and get your fingerprinting requirements done.

Once you receive your approval letter from TREC, you are now ready to schedule your exam with PSI Examination Services. You may go online to set an appointment @ or by calling (800) 733-9267. The fee to take the exam is $61 payable to PSI. You are required to score 70% or higher and you will know your results before you leave the testing center. What to expect when taking the State exam.

You will be required to take two separate exams. The State exam consists of 30 questions that you must complete within the allotted time of 45 minutes. The National exam must be completed within 1 hour and 45 minutes and consists of 80 questions. If you have already found a Broker that will be sponsoring you and filed the required sponsorship form, your license will be mailed to your sponsoring broker within 7-10 days of passing the exam. If you have not found a sponsoring Broker and have completed all of requirements your license will be placed on “inactive” until you choose a broker and submit a Salesperson Sponsorship Form.
